Summer Activities

It doesn’t get better than summer on Lake Superior! Lake Superior’s natural air conditioning keeps us cool so we can have fun exploring. There are dozens of options whether you want to stay on-site at Solbakken or hop in your car to explore the area.

Explore the Lake Superior Shore

Solbakken Resort is right on Lake Superior. Our ledgerock shoreline is perfect for sitting and admiring the endless expanse of the biggest lake in the world. Explore the ancient rock formations that disappear at the water’s edge.

The North Shore has many places to access Lake Superior beaches nearby. Some beaches have ledgerock, others have large cobblestones, and others have small pebbles. Rock skipping, agate hunting, and relaxing by the water are some of the most popular things to do.

Nearby Lake Superior Beaches:

Complementary Canoes and Kayaks

Our guests are invited to use our canoes and kayaks for paddling. You can load ‘em up and head to Caribou Lake (just a few minutes away), or any of the hundreds of nearby inland lakes for a true Northwoods adventure. Transportation is not provided.

Hiking nearby

Whether you want to take a short hike to see a beautiful view, or go for a longer day hike, Solbakken is close to a trail. The Superior HIking trail has numerous access points nearby as well.

Epic hikes nearby:

Grand Marias
